According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Beyoncé fired Mathew Knowles for allegedly diverting funds from her tour budget. But there is a twist.

These court records were submitted by Knowles in 2011 as part of a lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment, the firm that organized Beyoncé’s tour that year.

According to Knowles, a Live Nation staffer alerted Beyoncé that Knowles had stolen money from her on her most recent tour or had taken assets to which he was not authorized.

While Knowles maintained his innocence, he said that an internal audit wrongly established that he had misused tour monies, which resulted in his termination.

He also asked to be permitted to interview company personnel to determine who had filed the claims against him.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Knowles also questioned why Live Nation paid Beyoncé $4 million following his dismissal, hinting that the firm purposely fired him to link themselves closer with his famous daughter.

Are Beyoncé and Mathew Knowles still Close?

The specifics of Beyoncé’s professional falling out with her father are unlikely to surface, given her preference for secrecy. That being said, their familial relationship cannot be severed by maybe unpleasant economic transactions.

Regretfully, there have been other potential points of friction between the father and daughter over the years than business. Beyoncé’s professional split from Mathew Knowles coincided with the conclusion of her parent’s divorce.

According to TMZ, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, filed to end their marriage two years earlier, in 2009. This was allegedly motivated by Knowles’ extramarital affair with Alexsandra Wright, which resulted in a kid, according to TMZ.

Tina Knowles-Lawson has since remarried. Knowles gave birth to her second kid four months after Wright’s baby.

Even though there’s every reason for family discord, Beyoncé and her father still get along. She even paid tribute to him in her 2016 smash song, “Daddy Lessons,” where she joyfully talked about all the power he had given her.

The song’s last stanza, in which Beyoncé sings about a father cautioning his daughter about “when men like me come around,” may be alluding to Mathew’s adultery, as Bustle revealed.

Nevertheless, the fact that Beyoncé included her father in the music video for the song’s companion album, “Lemonade,” suggests that he is probably cool with the song and the associated hypotheses.

Final Words

The reasons behind Beyoncé’s decision to fire her father are complex, but what’s clear is that she was putting her career and her well-being first.

There may have been disagreements and tensions behind the scenes, but in the end, it was up to Beyoncé to make the best decision for herself.
