Why Did Davina Leave Selling Sunset? What Led to It?

Why Did Davina Leave Selling Sunset

Those watching Season 6 of the Netflix reality series Selling Sunset have noted the absence of one agent, which has many wondering why did Davina leave selling sunset?

Selling Sunset returns with a vengeance, bringing all of the drama and breathtaking luxury residences that viewers have come to expect from the blockbuster Netflix show.

Chrishell clashes with Jason’s new girlfriend, Marie-Lou, as well as her new rival and fellow agent Nicole Young this season. Meanwhile, the conflict between Chelsea Lazkani and Bre Tiesi continues to rage.

However, some cast members are gone from the most current season. Viewers had previously been wondering why Brett Oppenheim quit Selling Sunset after he went missing a few seasons ago, and now others are wondering why Heather Rae El Moussa left.

Davina Potratz, who quit The Oppenheim Group in season four, is the most intriguing. Despite appearing once or twice in later seasons, the estate agent is noticeably absent in season seven. Here’s what we know about Davina’s departure from Selling Sunset.

Why Did Davina Leave Selling Sunset?

Davina quit Selling Sunset following season four to pursue a new business opportunity at another Beverly Hills-based real estate firm, Douglas Elliman.

Davina confirmed her departure in October 2020 to PEOPLE, saying, “My background is in new development sales and marketing, so this is just a fantastic opportunity for me.” It’s simply right for my abilities.”

Her departure from the show was initially referenced on Selling Sunset in early season four episodes, when Jason announced he was seeking for a replacement.

Davina’s exit came immediately after her altercation with Chrishell Stause about her divorce from Justin Hartley, during which Davina questioned if Chrishell was truly “blindsided” by the news.

However, after leaving the show, Davina stated, “I certainly hope that I’m still a part of the cast.” Brett [Oppenheim] is no longer with the Oppenheim Group, so I don’t believe it will be an issue.”

“It’s not that I wanted to leave,” she continued, “but I had a fantastic opportunity.” It was strictly a business choice.”

At the same time, Jason remarked of Davina, “Davina has always been a tremendous asset and a valued agent at the Oppenheim Group, and she is also a friend whose career decisions I very much respect and support.”

She returned to the group midway through the fourth season and also appeared at the reunion in May 2022, as well as a couple of times in season six, when she attended Heather’s baby shower and Emma’s open house.

And, as some viewers have pointed out, the estate agent does make a brief appearance in season seven of Selling Sunset, when she’s seen in the backdrop of a footage shot at the inauguration of the new Oppenheim office.

Davina, dressed in a dazzling red gown, released a video to Instagram of her evening at the event, which included her posing for paparazzi shots as well as a few moments from inside the party.

Why Did Davina Return to Selling Sunset in Season 4?

Davina returned to Selling Sunset after the completion of her new development project. Davina informs fellow cast member Christine Quinn late in season four of Selling Sunset that she is considering returning to The Oppenheim Group.

She says that the new development project she had begun after leaving The Oppenheim Group had come to an end.

While Christine encouraged her to return, Davina expressed reservations, stating that she wasn’t on good terms with her boss, Jason Oppenheim, when she left.

She went on to explain: “When I left the Oppenheim Group, there was a little tension because of what had happened with the $75 million listing because that didn’t sell but I feel like [Jason] wasn’t supportive from the beginning and it just didn’t start off the best way.”

In a subsequent conversation with Jason, Davina said: “You know I left because of a new development opportunity at the other brokerage, but the job is completed, the consulting is all wrapped up and it was a very corporate environment.

And while I can easily function there, I do love the closeness and the access to you and just the camaraderie you have at the Oppenheim Group.”

Davina’s employment was returned to her by Jason, and she now works at the brokerage again, however her appearances on the show have been few and far between since then.

And it appears she is not pleased with her loss of prominence on the Selling Sunset. Heather, who is also missing from numerous episodes of season seven, recently posted on Instagram: “Looks like I got shoved in the ocean… It’s a good thing I know how to swim! Congratulations to my S7 girls!  You might see me in a few episodes…….” to which Davina replied, “You and me both,” with a laughing emoji.

What Happened to Davina on Selling Sunset?

Davina is best known for attempting to sell a $75 million dollar mansion that was causing quite a hassle for the real estate agent – primarily because the high price tag turned off potential buyers and made Jason reluctant to let her take on the job.

The expensive mansion, which belongs to the real estate agent’s client Adnan Sen, features seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms, as well as a home cinema, a wine cellar, a gym, and one of Beverley Hill’s largest pools.

A separate guesthouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms is also available The house first appeared in Selling Sunset in season two, but it reappeared in season five after Davina was unable to find a buyer.

“I know it didn’t work out on this property, but please know I’m always pitching in and mentioning it,” she says to Adnan on the show. I’m still on the lookout for folks. I’m here to see if there’s anything else we can work on together.”

Adnan is unimpressed, telling her, “At the end, you didn’t perform twice, and now you want me to give you another property?” But he eventually agrees, leasing her a place to work on.

There’s not much to say about Davina after season four of Selling Sunset because she never fully returned to the show. She is, however, still employed by The Oppenheim Group…

Where is Davina Potratz Now?

According to the Oppenheim Group website, Davina is now “a Broker and Director of the New Development Division.”

Also adding, “Throughout her career, Davina has secured property sales in excess of over half a billion dollars and served as an international sales and marketing consultant at several branded and marquee luxury developments.”

Final Words

This explains why she may be seen in the backdrop of a number of Selling Sunset season seven photos, including the inauguration of the new Oppenheim office and Chelsea’s 30th birthday party.

Meanwhile, Davina is looking as stunning as ever on Instagram, where she’s shared photos from her recent trip to Mallorca as well as appearances at various Netflix press events.
