She was discovered by an American record producer, Evan Rogers. The mother of RiRi is Monica Fenty and of Afro-American origin. Besides having two brothers named Rorrey and Rajad, her father also has two half-brothers and a half-sister.

Rihanna, in 2003, following her love for music had been forming a musical trio of herself and two classmates. But even then before the girls could make a name and style for themselves, they were discovered on holiday in Barbados by American record producer Evan Rogers.
