Rihanna defended her video on Thursday, describing it as a song about “a girl who has committed a murder that she regrets and is completely remorseful about” but one that “empowers” young females who are sexually abused.
The hip-hop singer, a victim herself of a beating by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, plays a woman who goes on to murder a man who sexually assaulted her.
“The Parents Television Council said in a news release that the video, which premiered Tuesday on the BET cable channel, ‘gives retaliation in the form of premeditated murder the imprimatur of acceptability,'” it added.

The latest hint at new Rihanna music came in a TV interview just days before Christmas in December 2023 when she told Entertainment Tonight there had always been plans for her to return to performing/touring.
She has expressed, though, that she would much rather wait until she has new music for her fans to embark on a whole tour.
She says: “Well we’re always gonna go back on tour, (but) I feel I want to do a tour when there’s new music. We already know what that’s gonna be with the songs that I’ve performed on my last tour. That was a long time ago.
