What Led to Dababy’s Arrest?
DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle, Beverly Hills police said.
The 29-year-old was among a group of men who entered a store along an upscale stretch of Rodeo Drive, police said. Guards from the store called police after the man was seen with a gun in his waistband.
According to authorities, police then went to the men as they were returning to their vehicle. He was jailed and then released later Thursday after posting $35,000 bail.
Walmart shooting Incident Involving Dababy
In 2018, DaBaby killed 19-year-old Jaylin Craig in a Walmart store in North Carolina. The magazine later reported in April that the rapper had told police that Craig was following him around the area of the store in Charlotte, where he was shopping with his then-partner and their children.
DaBaby told police that the two threatened him and flashed a gun at him. He also alleged that Douglas asked him if he wanted to fight.
He stated that the three then began fighting, and he shot Craig in the side. The 19-year-old died within minutes.
