You’ve probably heard about Alicia Keys. She is a 14-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, producer, actress, New York Times best-selling author, entrepreneur, and humanitarian.

Doing the press conference for Tidal, the streaming music service a company recently bought for $56m, the main speaker was the musician Alicia Keys, who acted as its public front.
Her speech didn’t give many details on how Tidal intends to fight off the Spotify and Apple juggernauts in the digital music market, but the key phrase was this: “The first ever artist owned global music and entertainment platform.
Keys was one of a large group of artists taking the stage in the US alongside Jay Z, and other “owners of Tidal” (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Chris Martin, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, Daft Punk in helmets, Jack White, Jason Aldean, J Cole, Deadmau5 in a helmet, and Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Usher).
